Artist Statement
This series explores the fluidity of textiles from everyday moments locked in time as resilient vessels. Throughout this past year of quarantine, often in isolation, staying in close proximity to our beds, I have found beauty in the patterns of wrinkled sheets and their movement. My process is in response to the materials, the soft fabrics, the malleability of clay, and the interplay between the two. Transforming the sturdy spherical form of clay on the wheel, guiding the clay into speaking for itself, and finding its final form. Even though this is just a moment, these vessels will stand as a representation of our experiences for eternity.
